Identity misuse
Think your identity has been used without you?
Act now, in this order. The first steps stop further damage; the rest build your case.
- 1
If you got a Verath alert for it, tap “Not me” first: it tells the institution that ran the check straight away.
- 2
Call your bank, using the number on your card or official app, and ask it to block or review new accounts, loans and transfers.
- 3
Secure your SIM with your mobile network: ask about any recent SIM swap and set or change your SIM PIN.
- 4
Change passwords and PINs for banking, email and apps linked to your phone number.
- 5
Report the fraud to the appropriate authorities and keep every reference number.
- 6
Keep a record as you go: dates, institutions, amounts and who you spoke to.
