What is Verath?

Verath tells you when your NIN or BVN is checked or used, and lets you act if it wasn't you.

Verath is an identity-protection service for Nigeria. When a bank, fintech, lender or verification provider connected to Verath checks or uses your NIN or BVN, Verath sends you an alert saying who checked it, when, and why.

If you recognise the check, you can confirm it. If you don't, tap Not me and Verath sends a dispute to the institution's fraud team so they can stop it.

What Verath is not

Verath does not issue identity numbers or replace your NIN slip, the NIMC app or your bank's BVN services.
Verath does not move money, recover money or investigate individual cases. It tells you quickly and passes your dispute to the people who can act.
Verath only sees checks reported by organisations connected to its network. Coverage grows as more partners join.
