Disputes and the identity lock
The identity lock
Lock your identity so new accounts and loans need your approval first.
The identity lock lets you block new account openings and loans in your name until you approve them.
How it works
- You lock your identity in the Verath app.
- When a connected institution that supports lock checks tries to open an account with your identity, it is asked to get your approval first.
- If it's really you, you grant a one-time unlock for that institution, for a short time you choose. The lock stays on for everyone else.
- Attempts made while your identity is locked are shown to you.
Good to know
- The lock is for new accounts and loans. Your existing accounts keep working.
- It only works with institutions that have adopted lock checks. Adoption is just starting, so the app shows which institutions offer it.
